fountain
feedback

I worked in Branson and saw the Waltzing Waters there many times.
The fountains are incredible but cheapened by the cheesy music
and shed-type theater. I am working on a fountain and need about
300 small orifice jets. Do you have an idea where I can find
them?

We are very much interested in your articles describing musical
fountain in Grand River Channel. By coincidence, we recently
got an inquiry of musical fountain in a plaza. So we will be
grateful if you could tell us where and how we can get connected
with the manufacturer or supplier of the musical fountain.

My grandfather built the first musical fountain show in Berlin
in the early Thirties. Today Waltzing Waters still designs and
manufactures shows. We have done projects for names such as Disney,
Sea World and Universal Studios. I have heard much of the Grand
Haven fountain and can understand your strong feelings to this
show. However, I would like to send you a video of our shows,
in order to win you over.

Thanks for your note asking about the Grand Haven Musical Fountain.
I spoke to the designer on the phone today. The fountain was
built entirely from donated labor, materials and equipment. It
has been upgraded several times. The fountain's piping system
is built from standard industrial plumbing materials, and the
spray is controlled by a PC-based multi-channel DAT system (a
vast improvement over the punched-paper tape). It's possible
to store the programming on CD. Allen-Bradley (and similar) controllers
are used as well. Ongoing maintenance is performed by a group
of volunteers and business owners, and the programming is created
by the Fountain designer. More than 15 new themes have been added
for the 1997 season

I am helping universities in India to set up musical fountains.
Can I ask your help? We are looking for companies which can deliver
the whole thing and on the other side, we are starting to explore
the possibilities of doing it ourselves. Do you know what are
the main parts needed and where to get them?

are as follows: (1)
How can I synchronize the water with the music? (2) Can I use
the Motorola M68HC11 micro-controller to do it? (3) Where can
I find the hardware? (4) Where can I find more information about
musical fountains? Thank
you for your time.

4 Oct 1997 From: Roger Hill I hope you
can help me. I am a director of a company called Flower Forest
of Barbados, which as its name suggests is a cross between a
nature trail and a botanical garden. We cater mostly to tourists
visiting the island. Our Chairman saw the Waltzing Waters show
in Newtonmore, Scotland, and was impressed. We would like to
find out how to franchise the product here. Come and see the
Flower Forest if you are ever in Barbados, on the house.

6 March 2001 From: Rob Andersen Hello, my
name is Rob Andersen in Roanoke, Virginia. I am now 26 years
of age and I have been a fountain fanatic ever since I was a
toddler. Over the years I have built many small water displays
in fiberglass bowels making my own spray rings and fountain heads.
But my dream has always been to build a small scale waltzing
waters that is portable and can be used indoors or out. I have
talked to Waltzing Waters in Cape Coral, Florida, realizing that
the cost of even a small portable unit is absolutely out this
world, and out of my price range. I feel that someone who has
basic knowledge of fountains could build their own at a fraction
of the cost, so that is what I have set out to do. My plans are
to build a unit that is 18 to 24 feet in length at 6 to 8 feet
in width with 9 to 12 different spray patterns and the common
sets of colored light combinations. But I have come to a fork
in the road trying to decide how to control the fountain, by
solined valves or trying to go with some form of a digital show
controller to turn pumps on and off and sequence the lights to
music. This is where I was wondering if you would share your
past knowledge and experience of the unit so that I can develop
this dream fountain. Thank you for your time.

Su We appreciate
if you quote to us your best price and delivery for the next
fountain system: a small programed fountain for variable jumping
jets (in Spanish, fuente saltarina). Our customer is a didactic
park for kids, they want a "well of the wishes" fountain.
The dimensions of this fountain are the follow:diameter= 3m.
High available= 3m. Our customer wants a 10 minute program cycle,
the fountain must work with music sound and sumergible colored
lights too. Maybe you can send two or three options. (from Fuentes

28 Aug 2002 From: Rashid Sherwani We are interested in installing an 80-feet long fountain on a
10 feet wide area. We feel a line of vertical nozzles jetting
a maximum of 10 feet in the air and forming 2 dimension patterns
will be sufficient for our purposes. Can you send us a list of
equipment required to complete this project along with prices.
We would also like to know the process of changing the pattrens
would it be fixed or can we change it on our own. (from
Ikno Technologies, Karachi, Pakistan)
